I'm sure the ZV-1F will be popular with people who take Vlogging more seriously than I (which is pretty much everyone over the age of six), but honestly, I prefer the real-time, real-world convenience of my all-in-one iPhone - no gimbal, no powerbank and no external gear needed for direct live streaming. The ZV-1F claims a stabilizer mode, but I can't say how well it works. I never need a gimbal while walking and rolling video with my iPhones their stabilization is amazing (Hint: while rolling the image on your screen will bounce around, but look at the playback and you'll be amazed at how you just don't need a gimbal to hand-hold tracking shots on iPhone.) Of course for selfie vlogging one uses the smaller iPhone "front" camera, but you get the idea. Picture quality today is in the firmware and I honestly suspect that the video out of my iPhone is going to look much better in real life than from this Sony. Most importantly, Apple has a lot more smarts and processing power than Sony.

Today, my iPhone 14 Pro Max (review coming) has about the same-sized 7.3 x 9.8mm sensor, a faster 6.7mm (24mm equivalent ) f/1.8 lens and has 48 MP, not 20. Its own battery easily let me broadcast for over three continuous hours live from the field with my iPhone's own wireless connection. Instead, you have to connect it to your phone or computer to connect it to the Internet - so why not just livestream directly from your iPhone as I do and be on the air without all the hassle of monkeying around trying to set menus, charging more batteries and God knows what else to get it all connected to connect live?Įven a few years ago I had no problem livestreaming directly from my iPhone 11 Pro Max with no other power, connections or gear needed. While Sony calls it a "Vlogging" camera, you can't livestream from it directly. It has a small 8.6 x 13.2mm 20 MP sensor.
It has a non-removable, non-zoom 7.6mm f/2 lens (20mm equivalent on full-frame) and a flip screen. The ZV-1F is a small-sensored, fixed lens point & shoot. New: Sony ZV-1F Vlogging Camera (also at Adorama). The US Navy was also founded 247 years ago today in 1775.
